The Author of Order―
Not disorder―
Good―
Not evil.
You signify that He is Justice―
He is Truth―
He is Love―
He is Order―
He is the very progress of which you were speaking―
Whether in the human soul or in the Order of Nature―
There God exists.
You might still see Him everywhere if you had not been mistakenly seeking for Him apart from you―instead of in you―
Away from the laws of nature―instead of in them.
And you become united, not by mystical absorption, but by partaking of that Truth and Justice and Love, which He Himself Is.
Therefore, the belief in immortality depends finally upon the belief in God.
If there exists a good and wise God, then there also exists a progress of the noble race of men and women toward perfection―
If there be no progress of (wo)men towards perfection, then there cannot be a good and wise God.
You cannot suppose that God’s moral government―
The beginnings of which you see in the world―in yourself―will cease when you leave this life.
