What is the problem of life?

The problem of life is surely to avoid the waste of straying into cul-de-sacs or being led into devious ways which do not help you forward. In other words, what you have to do is to see the point towards which you are tending and to persistently press towards it.

What is marriage?

 Marriage

Some spirits, in the spirit world, do not care for the counterpart of earthly home life. That may be because the habits of mind and the character with which they come over are opposed to it; but still, with all, there must be some choice of companionship, some affinity with one more than another, and to most, the special companionship of one is almost a necessity for the happy development of their being. This is especially a characteristic of modern and western nations.

Such companionship is a blessed thing and is the true marriage of which the earthly is only a broken shadow.

But there is one great point of difference.

This marriage is not necessarily between those who—on earth—were of the opposite sex; the body is cast off, and the psyche knows nothing of male or female. 

All are one in their great Head, the Head of the whole human family, the most perfect Man. 

It is the two types of character, which, on earth, are generally masculine and feminine, that are best suited to become one in spirit; therefore, it is not strange that real union on earth should often be continued here, although it is not necessarily nor always so. 

Here the great power of insight that spirits have into each other’s true being prevents mistakes, and the affections, and the reason, being united, all discord and disappointment are prevented.

Yet occasionally spirits see some grow in such different ways that they fall apart—but without any bitterness. These unions are unions of perfect responsiveness and sympathy—each can speak more fully to the other.

A greater power both in giving and receiving constitutes the bond.

What is the gospel that will save the world?

For the identification of love, wherever it is found as God, as a ray from God, pure and bright, the authentic emanation from God, in proportion as it is unselfish and sacrificial in its nature, that is the Gospel which will save the world.

What the age needs is time to think, time to meditate, time to pray; time, in short, for the divine and eternal.

Would it not be better for you?

Peace; be still. Five minutes of meditation—five minutes in every day in which to possess your soul in peace. If there were but five minutes daily for the soul for quiet thinking on the relations between you and love—which is God manifest in life—would it not be better for you?

Do not crowd God out of your life.

You must have time to think of God and of His manifestation as Love, otherwise, you will crowd God out of your life, and a life without Love is a life without God.

You must care for your higher self, the God within.

What is the use of spiritual meditation?

The use of spiritual meditation is primarily the development of love. And this can be done quite simply by giving the divine nature within you a chance to assert itself.

Life is a sensation and consciousness of being. Sensation and consciousness are the two signs of life.

What do you have to realise?

What you have to realise is that the soul was before the birth of the body, and continues after the body is dissolved.

What is the mechanism in which the spirit lives?

Sensation is a thing of the outward mechanism in which the spirit lives. 

All that is needed in that body is a mechanism, whereby, under physical conditions, the incarnate soul may acquire the experience necessary for its evolution. 

The conditions of that mechanism are sensation and consciousness. 

Consciousness is needed in some cases not continuous with life. The mechanism sometimes lives on where consciousness manifesting through the body appears to be extinct. There is, for instance, no consciousness of existence during sound sleep. But life continues. And the senses feel even in sleep.

When sensation ends, the death of the body begins. There is no such thing as the death of the soul at any rate of its development.

What you call life is sensation and consciousness of being occasioned by the sense of sensation.
