What is a violation of conscience?

To our finite minds, and small perceptions, the misery and sin on our little earth may seem to impeach the justice and love of God. 

But look around you and see from what we proceed. 

Are we not free agents? 

Have we not always had the power of acting for ourselves? 

Has God ever interfered to control us? 

Never. 

We have followed out our own desires, smothered the voice of conscience, the God-principle in our souls, and oppressed and tyrannised over each other, as inclinations—or brutal passions led us.
