What does the Bible say about a great chasm?

It is but a thin partition that divides the two worlds, the one is no great distance from the other and there is no impassable gulf, dark and dismal, separating earth from the paradise of the good—or even from the dark places of the poor, self-imprisoned, self-degraded soul. Do not believe it. We can and we do bridge over this supposed gulf, this valley of death, for quick as thought we are with you—the wish is barely formed when we are present to bless you.
