Which is the great commandment in the law?

Then Peter came to him, and saith―

Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Till seven times?

Jesus saith unto him―

I say not unto thee until seven times but until seventy-times-seven.

Master, which is the great commandment in the law?

Jesus saith unto him―

Thou shalt love the Lord, thy God, with all thy heart and with all thy soul and with all thy mind.

This is the first and great commandment.

And the second is like unto it―

Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

This is my commandment that ye love one another.

By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples if ye have love to one another.
