How to discipline yourself spiritually?

Into Thy Hands, I commend myself because you are my Father and I am your child.

It is the spirit within who disciplines you. It is your greater self which says—

Thou shalt suffer if thou err from the path. 

It is that stronger self, which chooses the stony road, which sometimes takes on pain, as an added burden to a load, which already is somewhat heavy. It is that self, which has seen God, that self, which knows that sorrow works out, that self which, ignoring the complaints of the physical mind, says—

I will reach the highest, and nothing, nothing will hold me back.
