Love does not propitiate—love simply does all it can for someone else without thinking of any reward, and without any fear. Sacrifice and love—both must be pure as the hearts of little children, not clouded by spiritual pride, not marred by material fear. Simply as a little child turns to his mother for comfort, knowing she will understand and not fail him should be the attitude of the soul who realises the strait way of access to God.
