Are pessimists depressed?

Am I to scare you into being good?

No, but you must arouse yourself to the importance of uniting on a definite method by which the coming world changes can be minimised and the days of tribulation shortened.

How? you ask.

Pessimism has a tendency to arouse a sense of helplessness and hopeless fear with no remedy in sight.

But a pessimistic outlook is not the only side of the picture. 

There is also an optimistic one, but its manifestation depends upon the voluntary efforts of humanity. We are urged not to act from personal and selfish motives, that is, to help to generate such powerful currents of definitely constructive, radioactive, spiritual force, as will counteract the destructive forces, and save, not only ourselves, but the great mass of unawakened and unthinking humanity.
