Words for the World's Days (WIP)

Poetic Invocations for the Global Calendar
December 2025

1 World AIDS Day

Listen! To cheer thy heartThese angel voices comeWhispering—Onward is thy pathAnd upward is thy home!—Alfred Fowler, Our Angel Friends In Ministry and Song
2 International Day for the Abolition of Slavery, World Computer Literacy Day

Unseen angel friends are ever by your side.

You know them as very near and dear friends—helpers in every time of need.
And the cultivation of your soul in fellowship with these angels will draw their strong and tender offices to instruct, comfort and console.
Truly, next to Christ they are the best friends you have.
And since these angels are to be your immediate companions after death why not spend five minutes each day for one year in cultivating their acquaintance and friendship?
O! angels e'er have blessed mankindWith words of joy and cheer,And lifted up the soul with thoughtsOf spirit-presence near. The fevered brow and aching headThey soothingly have fanned—And, in the hour of danger, breathedA warning from their land.In silence have they walked with usO'er each familiar spot,And through us viewed each lovely scene,And yet we knew it not—Their gentle hands have soothed our pains,And lightened earthly cares—O yes! long have we entertainedBright angels unawares!
5 International Volunteer Day, World Soil Day
We think that heaven will not shut forevermoreWithout a knocker left upon the door,Lest some belated wanderer should come,Heartbroken, asking just to be at home—So that the Father will at last forgive,And looking on his face that soul shall live.We think there will be watchmen through the night,Lest any, far off, tun them to the light—That He who loved us into life must beA Father, infinitely fatherly—And groping for him, all shall find their wayFrom outer dark, through twilight, into perfect day.
7 International Civil Aviation Day
Oh, soul, I said, thy boding murmurs cease―Though sorrow bind thee as a funeral pall,Thy Father's Hand is guiding thee through all,His Love will bring a true and perfect peace.―By a Spirit
10 Human Rights Day, International Animal Rights Day
May a Union of Soul interblend our strength, that we may be guided by Thy Love, Oh, Father. Amen.—B. H. in Spirit

11 International Mountain Day, UNICEF Day
Thou Eternal One! whose loveIs everywhere made manifest—Whose wisdom and whose goodness proveThat, of all friends, Thou art the best—

We thank Thee for each glorious gift,Which Thy Onific Hand hath given—That we our prayers to Thee can lift,The all-presiding Soul of Heaven.

Father, may we recogniseA universal brotherhood—And feel that Thy all-searching eyeIs on the evil and the good!

May we, like Thee, be full of love,Be rich in every Christian grace—Advancing upward nearer Thee,Through all the realms of endless space.

We would return our thanks to Thee,For every blessing we enjoy—And for the rich assurancesThat Thou wilt every sin destroy.

O may Thy Holy Spirit restOn each dear child assembled here—And may we feel, Father Blest,That Thou art ever, ever near!

We thank Thee, giver of all good,That we can visit those below,And tell them of those radiant skiesWhere everlasting pleasures flow—

That we can stamp upon the soulThe impress of Thy boundless love—And raise it from its darkened state,Into the joys of worlds above.

O bless us, Father, with the lightWe need to aid our progress onTo those eternal realms of bliss,Where brighter scenes will on us dawn!

And may we seek to reconcileThose hearts by hate and discord bound—Upon our efforts sweetly smile,That they with vict'ry may be crowned.

We know Thou art our faithful friend,And that Thy love will never end—If friends prove false or foes defame,We know that Thou remain'st the same.

O may we, then, in Thee confide—In Thee, our anchor and our guide—For Thou, God, in weal or woe,Wilt prove the truest friend we know!

If darkling clouds eclipse the lightOf Truth's most bright and glorious dawn—We know, dear Father, that the nightBut heralds forth the coming morn!

Then, with our hearts baptized anewIn Thy all-permeating love,May we our heavenly work pursue,Receiving strength from Thee alone.

We would Thy holy blessing craveOn those dear ones who now have foundThe pathway to those lands beyond,Where peace and harmony abound.

Impart to them that strength they needTo aid them in their glorious flightFrom world to world, from sphere to sphere,Upward to Thee, the Source of Light!

May they, O Parent All-divine,xert their powers for others' good—And labour zealously to bindAll hearts in one great brotherhood!

And may the teachings, breathed to them,To others be imparted, too—That they may also find the wayTo mansions of the pure and true!

And now, Father, we imploreThy mighty Spirit to descend,And cause our souls forevermoreIn love and unity to blend.

We ask that all mankind may soonFrom discord and from sin be free—That every soul may bask withinThe glorious light of liberty.

Reposing all our trust in Thee,We will our pleasant tasks renew,And strive, in one united whole,Thy everlasting will to do!
If God be on my side,Then let who will oppose,For oft ere now to Him I cried,And He hath quelled my foes.If Jesus be my Friend,If God doth love me well,What matters all my foes intend,Tho' strong they be and fell.
14 Hanukkah begins (ends December 22)
Put God, as your Father, first—The moment you find that you are unable to go to Him in trust and faith, in perfect confidence, turn out that little house of your mind and find where the speck of dust lies hidden. It is of first importance that the channel between you and God should be unimpeded—God first, then His work—but God first! Ponder on the love of God—gather to you that deep assurance that God is in your life—that God is forever at your side—and that God will bring you safe home at last out of the valley, over the rocks, up to the heights beyond, and then, recharged with His love, gladly, you will retrace your steps to hold out the hand of help to another—
That is the gospel of Christ.
18 International Migrants Day, Arabic Language Day
If God be on my side,If Jesus be my Friend,I'm sure He always will provide,And guide me to the end. Here I can firmly rest,I dare to boast of thisThat God the Most High and the bestMy Friend and Father is.From dangerous snares He savesWhere'er He bids me go,He checks the storms and calms the waves,Nor lets aught work me woe.I rest upon the groundOf Jesus and His blood,For 'tis through Him that I have foundThe true eternal good.Nought have I of mine own,Nought in the life I lead,What Christ hath given me, that aloneIs worth all love indeed.Amen.
If God be on my side, Paul Gerhardt (1650), Catherine Winkworth (1855) (Translator)
20 International Human Solidarity Day
All things, dear Father, e'er declare—Thy wondrous goodness, love and care—On Nature's brow, in every land—Is traced the impress of Thy hand! The murm'ring rills reflect Thy face—The ocean speaks Thy louder praise—While the sweet songsters of the airResound Thy mercies everywhere. The stars, which twinkle in the skies—Reflect a love which never dies—While sun and moon, with their pure light—Good sermons on the soul indite. On earth below, in Heaven above—Thy works bespeak Thy crowning love—All Nature sounds Thy hallowed name—And chants Thy everlasting fame!In all thy works, throughout the land,We see the wonders of Thy hand—From lordly tree to lowly flower—We trace Thine all-transcendent power.O! give to us a searching heart—That we may know thee as Thou art—And with devoutness worship Thee,As Thou, God, shouldst ever be!—Spirit John Quincy Adams
21 Winter Solstice (Northern Hemisphere), World Saree Day, World Basketball Day
In abiding faith and trust I cast out doubt and fear, knowing that Thy art always near.
Father of Love, we invoke thy strength. Give us the power and love with strength to work out the duty towards our fellow man.

25 Christmas Day
From the point of Light within the Mind of GodLet Light stream forth unto the minds of men.Let Light descend on Earth. From the Point of Love within the Heart of GodLet Love stream forth into the hearts of men.May Christ return to Earth. From the Centre where the Will of God is knownLet purpose guide the little wills of men—The purpose which the Masters know and serve. From the Centre which we call the race of menLet the Plan of Love and Light work outAnd may it seal the door where evil dwells.Let Light and Love and Power restore the Plan of Earth.
Tibetan Master Djwhal Khul through Alice Bailey, the Great Invocation, Universal Prayer for Spiritual Transformation, 1937

26 Boxing Day, Kwanzaa begins (ends 1 January)
O GOD, our God!Faint and weary are thy children,Toiling up the steep of time,Seeking for the Eastern token,Listening for the morning chime—Waiting, waiting, ever waitingFor the voice of long ago,With its soft, melodious accents,Soothing every human woe.Know they not the star has risen,And its glory gilds the earth?Hear they not the song of angelsO'er this glorious second birth?Peace on earth! goodwill from Heaven!Sing that white-robed angel band—Peace on earth! goodwill from Heaven!Echoes over all the land.O thou God of past and present!O thou light of every soul!We shall chant thee deathless praisesWhile eternity shall roll.
HOLY angels, guide these mortalsO'er the mystic waves of time―Open wide the shining portalsLeading unto heights sublime―Lift―O lift the veil that hides themFrom their loved ones, gone before!Show them but their shining faces,Waiting on the other shore.O THOU, whose mysterious presenceFills the earth, the air and sea,We would chant undying praises,We would worship only thee. From the earth's unnumbered altarsHuman sighs and tears are born,Praying for a glad hereafter—Weary watchers in the storm.Let them hear the chime of voicesVoices from the spirit-land—Waking all the slumbering echoes,Strengthening heart and strengthening hand.Let them see the star of promiseThat shall lead to brighter days,Over all the plains of error,Where the babe of Bethlehem lays.Let them sing that holy anthem,Sung by angels long ago—Peace on earth, goodwill from Heaven,Golden side of human woe. Then the night shall grow to morning,Then the angels join the song,For the day of peace is dawning―Lo! the Son of Truth is born!O THOU source of endless wisdom,Lord of earth and land Elysian,We would bathe our weary spiritsIn the fullness of thy love.We would drink the healing watersFlowing from unnumbered altars—Altars where no blood-stained offeringsFill the earth with woe.We would rise redeemed—redeeming,Losing all our earthly seeming,In the holy words, forgivenessOf all earthly sin.We would dwell with saints and sages,Whose great thoughts have thrilled past ages,Calling all men to adore thee,Lord of heaven and earth.Hear our prayer, ye guardian angels—Be to us as bright evangels,Bearing our poor sin-stained messageTo the throne of love.
JANUARY
4 World Braille Day
O GOD of all nations! O light of our souls!Whose loving hand guides us—whose wisdom controls,Through the weakness and darknessAnd sorrows of time,O lead these thy children to soul-heights sublime.Let us teach them to love thee and serve thee aright,Never fearing the darkness, yet loving the light—Never doubting thy presence, ever trusting thy grace,To give to each soul its true portion and place. And unto thee, O God of our life, be the homage and honour of nations and individuals, forever.Amen.
Whose mercy never faileth
When we are weary of the strife
That comes of human weakness,
By some called human sin,
Whose wisdom opens heaven's gates,
That all may enter in—
We would sing thee glad hosannas,
We would join the earth and air
In their everlasting chorus,
And their one eternal prayer.
For all that life can give us,
For all that hath been given,
For every tear of sorrow,
And every hope of heaven,
We thank thee, O, our God.
26 January International Day of Clean Energy
O SPIRIT of mercy, of justice and love,
O'ershadow thy children—with peace from above—
Let the phantoms of fear, of doubt and despair,
Be lost in the radiance of spiritual air—
Let the songs of the angels be heard in the skies,
Proclaiming the truth that the soul never dies—
That all things are carefully guarded by thee,
But the soul in its beauty at death is set free.
27 January International Day of Commemoration in Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust
Oh, Father, Mother God—
In Thee, we have put our trust, and Thou hast kept us in all our ways.
Thou hast made a path from earth to heaven by which Thy children may ascend.
Oh, Father in Heaven, may we reflect Thee always.
Thou art Life, Truth, Love, Eternity, and all Power forever.
Turn Thy face upon us that we may see the reflection of Thy goodness.
Speak unto everyone that all may know Thy voice.
Forgive all trespasses, and fill each with the knowledge of Thy presence.
I ask this in Thy name—
Thou art our Father, Mother God, and there is no other.
Amen!
