How do you love thy neighbor as thyself?

When we learn to desire the happiness of our neighbours, as much as our own, and seek to produce it by kindly offices of goodwill, self-denial, patience and charity, feeling that all have an equal right to the blessings of this life, as all are of the same account and value before God—then, harmony, something like the harmony of heaven, may come down upon the earth—music and gladness will be in every heart, and joy and rejoicing usurp the place so long occupied by sorrows and groans. Everyone can do something to produce this desirable result—far more indeed than most people are aware of.
