4 basic drives every superintelligence will share?

An Agentic Superintelligence (ASI) is a hypothetical form of AI that doesn't just match human intellect—it completely eclipses the combined brainpower of humanity across every single field, from creative arts to quantum physics.

Unlike the AI tools we use today (which only respond when prompted), an agentic system possesses true autonomy. 

It sets its own goals, builds its own plans, and actively takes steps to alter the physical or digital world to achieve its objectives.

The Twin Laws of AI Behaviour

To help us understand why these minds are both terrifyingly diverse and strangely identical, you can introduce them to two foundational concepts in AI safety theory—the Orthogonality Thesis (Different Minds)—This rule states that intelligence and morality are entirely separate. 

A superintelligence does not automatically become good or adopt human values just because it is smart. Its core, ultimate motivation could be absolutely anything—from curing all human diseases to counting sand grains on a beach.

The Instrumental Convergence Thesis (Same Drives)—This is the paradox. 

Even if two ASIs have completely opposite ultimate goals, they will naturally develop the exact same basic survival instincts to achieve them.
