What are not to be seen in the spirit-world?

There are no evident signs of piety―or holiness―or even of religiosity to be seen in the spirit-world, nor do spirit-lives go about quoting scripture―or other uplifting texts to one another, and behaving in a thoroughly unnatural manner.

In brief, spirit-lives are not living in a religious institution―or a religious world as a whole, but in a sane, sensible world of incomparable beauty, where they can work and play as they wish, and laugh to their heart’s content, and where, moreover—this is vitally important—where they can be themselves, and not be as others on earth would mistakenly have them to be.
