God works always on broad lines leading to freedom. The true lesson of universal brotherhood and freedom and the oneness of all creation can never be learned except as Nature demonstrates the lesson, i. e., each growing thing after its own kind without interference, yet each and all attaining perfection through the same forces—sun, air, earth and water. The oak and the violet at its root, each from the selfsame soil and in the same environment attain to an individualised perfection; each adds its quota to the one perfect picture. And the oak does not continually reproach the violet because it does not try to be an oak.
