What is Mind?

MIND

Reflection of Himself, is mind, eternal—

And mirrored in each soul of all mankind;

Undying thought or will in deed or purpose—

The part that lives when clay is left behind!

W. S. in Spirit

What is Life?

LIFE

The spark Divine—the ray we know as spirit—

Undying as the God who gives and takes—

Part of Himself, though housed in poverty;

Enriching those with love the world forsakes.

W. S. in Spirit

I hear you say Why? Always Why? You see things, and you say Why? But I dream things that never were, and I say Why not? | George Bernard Shaw, 1856-1950 | LIFE Photo Archive | Eugenio Hansen, OFS | Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 4.0 International

What is Spirit?

SPIRIT

The man himself, with all his baser nature,

Freed from the flesh to find his heaven or hell—

His form the same, as every taste and longing,

But unconfined by mortal case or shell.

Originally published in 1952, Geoffrey Hodson, clairvoyant, views and documents the angelic kingdom in The Kingdom of the Gods. Download the book here.

In his introduction to The Kingdom of the Gods, the author describes the day he sat on a hillside at the edge of a beech forest in a secluded valley in the west of England.

He was seeking ardently to enter the sanctuary of Nature's hidden life when the heavens suddenly became filled with light and his consciousness was caught up into a realm radiant with that light, which never was on land or sea.

Gradually, he realised the presence of a great Angelic Being.

From the interchange, there began to flow a stream of ideas concerning the life, the force and the consciousness of the universe and their self-expression as angels and as men.

Daily entering that realm of light, the author found that the great ocean of the life, the force and the soul of the universe had its myriad denizens. These are the Spiritual Selves of men and Supermen and the vast company of the Angelic Hosts, of which the Being, who had addressed him was a member. He was supernally beautiful, majestic, godlike, and impassive and impersonal to the last degree.

As a teacher to pupil, the angelic being began to tell of and to enable the author, with gradually increasing clarity to perceive the Angelic Hosts, their Orders and degrees.

Mere Christianity by C. S. Lewis

Mere Christianity is a theological book by C. S. Lewis, adapted from a series of BBC radio talks made between 1942 and 1944, and is considered a classic of Christian apologetics. In Mere Christianity, Lewis sets out simply to explain and defend the belief that has been common to nearly all Christians at all times.

SIMPLE TRUTHS

AS ONE THINKS, ONE IS.

There is no compulsion to review one’s past life on earth as soon as one arrives and the new life begins. Some take a long while to tackle the problem. They dread to see the effects of mistakes and failures.

THE CONVICTION THAT ONE HAS FAILED IN THE LAST ROUND HAUNTS THE SOUL.

Some get stuck—these undergo a kind of mental and spiritual psychiatry—and spiritual helpers devote their love and thought, their skill and experience to aiding the stumblers until their course has become clear (both past and possible future) and they have been able to rectify the places in the chain where they have failed.

THE CREATION—THE FIFTH DAY (from Hartmann Schedel, Liber chronicarum. Nümberg—Anton Koberger, 1493) (December 2016) | Trento Municipal Library | Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 Unported

IN THE DEEPS OF ONE’S OWN MIND

Two blueprints are brought forward into the spirit-soul’s consciousness. These are so clear that the spirit-soul can literally take them out, materialise and study them. One is the Perfect Idea with which the spirit-soul went bravely into incarnation. The other is the resultant of only a partially understood Plan—the life, as it was actually lived.

Ulisse Aldrovandi (1522–1605) | Trento Municipal Library

A SALUTARY EXPERIENCE

It is a shock to the spirit-soul to find that these two plans, that is, the Life Review and Judgement, differ exceedingly.

The blueprints resemble maps, with coloured places, and light and dark patches, and a kind of glowing sun for the highlights. The mind looks at the whole comparison and sets the blueprints side by side. This is the first shock—a true humbling of oneself to find that one did so little when one would have done so much; that one went wrong so often when one was sure that one was right.

And yet, one learns so much by facing the results.

Mary Somerville1884 | Popular Science Monthly Volume 25

YOURS IS THE JUDGMENT

During this experience, the whole cycle of the spirit-soul’s life-term unfolds before it in a kaleidoscopic series of pictures. During this crisis, the spirit-soul seems to be entirely alone. It stands at its own bar of judgement, making its own decisions and taking its own blame. It is the accused, the judge and the jury.

This is where quite a few souls become immobilised. Their pictures are too searing in their exposures. They remain prisoners of the self until they have made the inner desire to right their wrongs.

Immediately the spirit-soul becomes ready to face itself again, it is guided to these beautiful and peaceful homes.

The second stage of this recapitulation starts when the spirit-soul feels strong enough and calmed sufficiently to take the earth life, round by round (so-to-speak). Then the blueprints are brought into the mind again; only this time the start is made from the moment of departure from the body. The mind works slowly backwards through its experiences. Now the spirit-soul seems no longer alone.

Someone is beside it. Only now, as the spirit-soul ponders, works out, goes over, tabulates and judges what it did AND WHY AND WHAT WERE THE RESULTS—good or bad—the spirit-soul is aware of a great Being beside it, giving strength, peace, tranquillity and helping with constructive criticism. This is a wonderful experience, though harrowing at times. But very cleansing and bringing new hope.

The Sisters in the Home help the stumblers—many get stuck on their first picture—and try to link up with these great ones and bring help and strength to the stumblers’ level. The soul cannot move on until it has literally seen the Light or at least as much of the Light as it can assimilate at its present stage.

SIMPLE TRUTHS

The Realm of Mind

In the world of Spirits, spirit-souls live so much more in the realm of mind. As they ponder over an experience or a Purpose, the mind stretches out to see all sides of the problem. This is a new and not always exciting or pleasant experience. It is rather like a chain reaction; much more potent and real than the old association of ideas of earth psychology. Here, as one thinks, one is.

SIMPLE TRUTHS

STRETCHING OF THE MIND

Spirit-souls still have the same experiences, the same problems, the same hopes, with even greater and wider aspirations for work; only now do they view them from an entirely different angle and with far greater dawning comprehension.

They learn to apprehend the meaning of much that happened to them. They see it as a background Pattern and begin to realise the effects of their thoughts and to view the events that were set in motion by these very thoughts and ideas.

Consciousness is on an upward spiral and progresses onwards.

The rope of one’s character has to be tested at its weakest part.

I have a message for Pope Francis.

You are right, Your Eminence,

But keep us from temptation.

In his article, The Telegraph, 13 December 2017, Nick Squires writes The Devil is more intelligent than mere mortals and should never be argued with, Pope Francis has warned.

Satan is not a metaphor or a nebulous concept but a real person armed with dark powers, the Pope said in forthright remarks made during a television interview.

He is evil, he’s not like mist. He’s not a diffuse thing, he is a person. I’m convinced that one must never converse with Satan—if you do that, you’ll be lost, he told TV2000, a Catholic channel, gesticulating with his hands to emphasise his point.

He’s more intelligent than us, and he’ll turn you upside down, he’ll make your head spin.

He always pretends to be polite—he does it with priests, with bishops. That’s how he enters your mind. But it ends badly if you don’t realise what is happening in time. (We should tell him) go away! he said.

Pope Francis frequently refers to the Devil in his homilies, sermons and on Twitter, where he is followed by 40 million people in nine languages.

He uses various terms to refer to the Prince of Darkness, including Satan, the Evil One, the Seducer, Beelzebub and the Great Dragon.

It’s a Jesuit thing. He’s a Jesuit who is deeply imbued with the spiritual exercises of St Ignatius of Loyola, which allow people to discern the movements of the good and bad spirit, said Austen Ivereigh, a Vatican analyst and the author of The Great Reformer—Francis and the Making of a Radical Pope.

For him, this is real, these are not metaphors. It may not be the way that people speak nowadays and some Catholics may be taken aback by it. A lot of people are uncomfortable with the idea of evil being real, but anyone who knows the spirituality of the Jesuits will not be surprised.

Three years ago, the Argentinian pontiff told a convention of exorcists from around the world that they were doing sterling work in combating the Devil’s works.

He said that exorcists needed to show the love and welcome of the Church for those possessed by evil.

In 2013, during an address to crowds of faithful in St Peter’s Square, he said the Devil often appears disguised as an angel, and slyly speaks his word to us.

He shares stories about the Devil’s devious ways when he gives his daily homilies in the chapel of the guesthouse where he lives inside the Vatican.

Last week Pope Francis called for the wording of The Lord’s Prayer to be changed so that it blames the Devil, rather than God, for leading us into temptation.

He said that prayer had been badly translated from the Greek used in the New Testament and the new version would better reflect its meaning.

It’s not a good translation—I am the one who falls. It’s not Him pushing me into temptation to then see how I have fallen.

A father doesn’t do that, a father helps you to get up immediately. It’s Satan who leads us into temptation, that’s his department, he said.

The life of a Christian is a continual battle against evil, the Pope has said.

WRITER’S NOTE—

The writer agrees, as do Our Beloved One In Spirit, with Pope Francis’ argument that The Lord’s Prayer must be changed so that it blames the Devil, rather than God

Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done, on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and keep us from temptation, and deliver us from evil.

The Aquarian Gospel of Jesus The Christ

In Heaven’s Gift—Conversations Beyond the Veil, Mike’s spirit-soul urges his father, Jasper Swain, to beg, borrow or steal a copy of Levi H. Dowling's The Aquarian Gospel of Jesus The Christ—The Philosophic and Practical Basis of the Religion of the Aquarian Age of the World and of the Church Universal. In writing The Aquarian Gospel, Levi claimed it was the true story of Jesus’ life and included the lost eighteen years silent in the New Testament. Levi said he had transcribed the text of the book from The Book of God’s Remembrances, known as The Akashic Records,* as a young man in the early morning hours. The Aquarian Gospel is an uncorrupted text and is expressed in simple and familiar language.

*The Akashic Records (or The Book of God's Remembrances) are a collection of concise but detailed information of all human events, thoughts, words, emotions and intent ever to have occurred in the past, present or future. These records are encoded in the etheric plane.

COUNSELS FOR LIFE

A Strong America

We all have dreams. But in order to make dreams come into reality, it takes an awful lot of determination, dedication, self-discipline and effort.

A lifetime of training for just ten seconds. One chance is all you need. I always loved running—it was something you could do by yourself and under your own power.

I let my feet spend as little time on the ground as possible. From the air, fast down, and from the ground, fast up.

The only bond worth anything between human beings is their humanness.

For a time, at least, I was the most famous person in the entire world.

Spiritual Teachings of the Spiritual Aspects of Life

Spiritual Prozac invites the spiritual person to explore the spiritual teachings of the spiritual aspects of life, love, compassion, altruism, life after death, wisdom and truth, prayer and meditation, the existence of God, moral laws, and the meaning of life.

The spiritual person knows there is more to understanding than logic and reason—knows that spirituality is the indefinable urge to reach beyond the limits of ordinary human existence and to discover higher values in spiritual personhood.

In cultivating a spiritual path, the spiritual person is consciously appreciating the ultimate mystery that is life—the universe—and everything in it.

The core experience is of being somehow connected to something greateror of being in relationship with a higher self—higher beings—or God.

It is the writer's sincere wish that these spiritual shards, and fragments of spiritual teachings, serve to soothe, inspire, and instruct you to live life more in fulfilment of that great Law—Love.

Use me in Thy service

Love is not love in the sense that we understand it if it is bestowed only on those who love us. The wider, bigger, true conception of that wonderful gift is in sending out love to those who seem outside its range altogether. And it can be done by prayer. By prayer and dedication, you can tear out those last roots of self; you can offer your mind, your will, and your energies to the Father, saying from your very heart—

Use me in Thy service, for I too once was outcast from Thee.

We have got to learn true brotherhood.

There is before you all a problem, which must be faced in God's good time; it is that of choosing the sympathetic companionship of those you love, and making it exclusive, or in being willing to sacrifice a proportion of that companionship and to throw open your hearts and minds to the majority. I know you shrink from the larger view. There is much that will be uncongenial, so you think. There will be obstacles of many kinds and a sense of loneliness as well. But, dear friends, I speak to all who read these records, dear friends, as well as my children here tonight either on this plane or in the planes of the Spirit, you have got to learn true brotherhood or true sisterhood; you have got to make yourselves one in sympathy with the least and the frailest of God's creatures.

ALL, ALL IS WELL

Don't let your heart be troubled if things go wrong; don't let the sorrowing thoughts go too deep for those who have passed on. ALL, ALL IS WELL, and separation exists only to that small part, the physical mind, and nothing more. That which belongs to God is linked to them and nothing can sever love or separate your loved ones from you.

Never think that chance plays a part in our lives.

Never think that chance plays a part in our lives, still less with those who wish to find the Master. Know that the plan of our lives is clearly written down, and we, before we took on physical existence, that we, in the spirit, traced the events from the beginning unto the close.

What does God say about strength?

Set your will on the strength, which is of God, and you will find, however hard the enemy may attack, however diligently it may tear to pieces that which has been put together with so much effort, however destructive these forces may be, the Great Constructor can repair all damage, and instead of the attack causing weakness to the foundation, by your very resistance, it will be made doubly strong.
