Fragments of Spiritual Knowledge 74

A receiving station is necessary to the receiving of messages from the spiritual world. But most of the messages thus received are mistaken for passing thoughts or conceptions, and are never understood to have been received from the spiritual world. However, we sometimes have a sneaking conviction that what we conceive, or receive, is not our own, but we take the credit for all that, and the more brilliant the conception is, the more we are prone to claim it as our own.

We are willing to concede to the spiritual world all our trivial and unimportant thoughts and passing conceptions, but we are unwilling to concede to anyone, the more important and beautiful thoughts and conceptions that come to us.
